MASCOT
The Paris 2024 Olympic Mascot is a … Phryge! (Say what?)
“A Phryge is based on the traditional small Phrygian hats that the mascots are shaped after. The name and design were chosen as symbols of freedom and to represent allegorical figures of the French republic.”

EVENT HISTORICAL FIRSTS
The Opening Ceremony will start on Friday, July 26, at 7.30 p.m. Paris time, 1:30pm Eastern Time. The event will have two historic firsts:
For the first time in the history of the Olympic Summer Games, the Opening Ceremony will not take place in a stadium.
The parade of athletes will be held on the Seine River with boats for each national delegation.
