How Calm Kept Us Calm During Election Broadcasts

In the strategic communications world, we focus a lot on the right thing to say and how to say it. An equally important tool, however, is knowing when to say nothing at all.

Calm, a subscription-based app that focuses on meditation, beautifully leveraged that strategy when they purchased 30-second ad blocks during election coverage programming on CNN, Comedy Central, and ABC.

Calm’s mission is to support everyone on every step of their mental health journey. During a time of high emotion and high anxiety, the ad buy was a perfect alignment of their mission and communications strategy.

The EO report is taking a page out of Calm’s book this week and giving space for silence. We’ll see you next Monday.
